(Starship:) We built this city, We built this city on rock an' roll Built this city, We built this city on rock an' roll (Linkin Park:) The cycle repeated As explosions broke in the sky All that I needed Was the one thing I couldn't find And you were there at the turn Waiting to let me know (Starship:) Don't you remember We built this city We built this city on rock an' roll (Linkin Park:) We're building it up (Starship:) We built this city (Linkin Park:) To break it back down (Starship: We built this city on rock an' roll (Linkin Park:) We're building it up (Starship:) We built this city (Linkin Park:) To burn it down (Starship: We built this city on rock an' roll (Linkin Park:) We can't wait to burn it to the ground (Linkin Park:) As the flames climbed into the clouds. I wanted to fix this But couldn't stop from tearing it down. And you were there at the turn Caught in the burning glow And I was there at the turn Waiting to let you know (Starship:) Don't you remember We built this city, We built this city on rock an' roll (Linkin Park:) We're building it up (Starship:) We built this city (Linkin Park:) To break it back down (Starship: We built this city on rock an' roll (Linkin Park:) We're building it up (Starship:) We built this city (Linkin Park:) To burn it down (Starship: We built this city on rock an' roll (Linkin Park:) We can't wait to burn it to the ground (Linkin Park:) You told me, "Yes" You held me high And I believed when you told that lie I played soldier, you played king And struck me down, when I kissed that ring You lost that right, to hold that crown I built you up, but you let me down So when you fall, I'll take my turn And fan the flames As your blazes burn And you were there at the turn Waiting to let me know (Starship:) Don't you remember (remember) (Here's your favorite radio station, in your favorite radio city The city by the bay, the city that rocks, the city that never sleeps) Marconi plays the mamba, listen to the radio, don't you remember We built this city, we built this city on rock an' roll (Linkin Park:) We're building it up (Starship:) We built this city (Linkin Park:) To break it back down (Starship: We built this city on rock an' roll (Linkin Park:) We're building it up (Starship:) We built this city (Linkin Park:) To burn it down (Starship: We built this city on rock an' roll (Linkin Park:) We can't wait to burn it to the ground (Starship:) We built this city, We built this city on rock an' roll Built this city, We built this city on rock an' roll (Linkin Park:) When you fall, I'll take my turn And fan the flames As your blazes burn We can't wait To burn it to the ground When you fall, I'll take my turn And fan the flames As your blazes burn We can't wait To burn it to the ground (Starship:) We built, We built this city Built this city We built We built this city

Hey. This is DJ Nerd42. I just want to take a moment to talk about the sharing that makes the mashup scene possible. Most mashups require getting voices and instruments on separate tracks. People collect them from artist releases, studio leaks, vinyl records, old tapes, phase inversion, video games, any way they can get them. We don’t make money. We do it because we love music and cool ideas. Multitracks not only enable non-commercial creativity like mine, but are also an educational resource for aspiring musicians, producers and audio engineers. But the scene needs your help. Contact your favorite bands and their labels asking them to release multitracks. Instead of trading, please share your multitracks for free. By working together, we can do whatever it takes to keep mashups awesome. Thanks.

about

DJ Nerd42's “Linkin Things” is a 2015 mashup album that reinterprets every track from Linkin Park’s “Living Things” (2012)

DJ Nerd42 says: "Linkin Things, like all my albums, is designed to be heard together in a specific order, which actually differs somewhat from the order I released the individual tracks in. It really is an album and I consider it to be a mashup masterpiece: a fine example of what the mashup scene/genre is all about.
I took an entire album (Linkin Park's "Living Things") and changed every part of it, made it completely my own. There is no part of it which you can listen to and conclude, "Ah, he's just copying that." It is in that sense completely original. Certainly far more original than the crap that gets on the radio these days. I have worked hard on this album and others to help elevate mashups into a higher form of art."

DJ Nerd42 is dedicated to the craft of the mashup concept album, where all the tracks work together to tell a larger story. Want more?
